I don't have many details due to being involved in a wedding this weekend,
but I did see the BC-Merrimack game. Emma had three goals and an assist.
BC was behind 2-1 late in the second period, but Emma tied the game on the
power play after Merrimack took a too many men on the ice penalty. They
went ahead about a minute later on a goal by Marty McInnis, and that's
how it stood until The Goose was pulled late in the game and Emma iced it
with the ENG. Goose played a great game; BC outshot the Warriors, 39-16.
The Eagles were pretty lifeless and Ron Anderson was understandably upset
that his team didn't win a game they had every opportunity to win.
Apparently Merrimack held a 3-2 lead on Maine in the second before
surrendering the game's final five goals. Observers said the Warriors
played the Black Bears tough before running out of gas; it was the most
difficult weekend series of the year thus far for Merrimack.
The standings changed a bit after the weekend. Maine and BC are
neck-and-neck, with BU now behind and having played an extra game.
The Beanpot is tonight. BU has to be the favorite, but there's a voice
in the back of my head telling me the 4-21-2 Huskies may pull an upset.
