Jeff Panzer/C/UND
University of North Dakota center iceman Jeff Panzer, who had five
goals and seven scoring points in a two-game weekend sweep over
Minnesota, has been selected as the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week
for January 25.
A 5-10, 160-pound sophomore from Grand Forks, North Dakota, Panzer
scored four goals - including the game-winner - and set up another for
five points in the Fighting Sioux's 5-4 victory over the Golden
Gophers last Friday (Jan. 22) night.
On Saturday, Panzer again came through with the game-winning goal at
8:15 of the third period as well as one assist in the contest to help
UND to a 6-5 come-from-behind win over Minnesota.
Through 21 games this season, Panzer has 12 goals and 20 assists for
32 points to rank fifth overall in scoring among WCHA players.
North Dakota, the nation's #1-ranked team with a 19-2-1 record,
currently leads the WCHA with a 14-1-1 mark and 29 points. The Sioux
play at Minnesota-Duluth this Friday and Saturday.
Other nominees for the WCHA's offensive player of the week award for
Jan. 29 were: Brian Swanson, C, CC; Paul Comrie, C, DU; Paul Cabana,

WCHA Defensive
Player of the Week Brad Williamson/D/UND
Brad Williamson, a senior defenseman on the University of North
Dakota's No. 1-ranked hockey team, has been selected as the WCHA's
Defensive Player of the Week for January 25th as a result of his
outstanding efforts in a pair of weekend victories over visiting
Minnesota.
A native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Williamson earned a +4 plus-minus
rating and was a key member of penalty-killing units that held the
Golden Gophers to two power-play goals in 11 chances.
In addition to his solid defensive play, Williamson assisted on all
five of his club's goals in a 5-4 triumph over Minnesota last Friday
(Jan. 22) night, just one assist and point shy of the school records
in those two categories for a defenseman.
Currently the top scoring blueliner in league games with two goals, 16
assists and 18 points in 16 games, Williamson also ranks 10th overall
in scoring among WCHA players with 2-24-26.
The Thunder Bay, Ontario product was a member of the 1998-99 WCHA
All-Star Team that played in the Kolin Cup tournament in Switzerland
this past August.
Also nominated for the league's weekly defensive honor were: Dan
Peters, D, CC; Ryan Hacker, D, DU; and David Weninger, G, MTU.
WCHA Rookie of the Week

St. Cloud State University freshman center Tyler Arnason, who played
an instrumental role in the Huskies' home-and-home series sweep over
league rival Minnesota-Duluth last weekend, has been honored as the
WCHA Rookie of the Week for January 25.
A 6-0, 185-pounder from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Arnason was a big factor
in both games, scoring two goals and setting up two others for four
points.
In a 6-3 win over the host Bulldogs last Friday (Jan. 22) evening,

the Huskies' five goals in a 5-3 victory.
A draft pick of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks, Arnason shares the
