Actually, there have been times when they have been. In 1997, I believe
that BC vs. Northeastern was made one to allow a non-conference opponent to
play both BC and Northeastern on a road trip into Boston. If I remember
right, this was due to the sudden dropping of hockey at one of the western
schools (UIC?), and the team that was on the road trip needing to make up
games thus vacated on their schedule.
