The Central Collegiate Hockey Association presented three "best" awards at its
11th Annual Awards Banquet held in the Westin Hotel on Friday, March 17, 1995.

Best Defensive Forward Wayne Strachan Lake Superior

Best Offensive Defenseman Kelly Perrault Bowling Green

Best Defensive Defenseman Steven Halko Michigan

In a vote of the league head coaches, the 1994-95 CCHA "best" awards went to
individuals from three different member schools.

Wayne Strachan (Fort Frances, Ontario), a senior center from Lake Superior
State University, has been selected the CCHA's Best Defensive Forward.
Strachan led the Laker penalty killers to a CCHA-best 85% success rate in
league play. He had two shorthanded goals, while assisting on another LSSU man-
down goal. Strachan played in all 27 league contests recording 12 goals and 13
assists for 25 points. Since the beginning of January, he has been minus
(plus/minus) in only two games. He is the third Laker honored as Best
Defensive Forward.

The CCHA Best Offensive Defenseman is Bowling Green sophomore Kelly Perrault
(Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta). Perrault led the league in scoring by a
defenseman with 11 goals and 22 assists for 33 points while recording six power
play goals, one shorthanded marker and two game winners. He had 11 multiple-
point games, while playing in 26 of BG's 27 conference games. Perrault is the
second Falcon honored as Best Offensive Defenseman joining current Los Angeles
King Rob Blake (1989-90).

Junior defenseman Steven Halko (Bolton, Ontario) from the University of
Michigan is the CCHA Best Defensive Defenseman. Halko, a 1992 draft pick of
the Hartford Whalers, helped lead the Wolverines to the best goals-against
average in league play (2.74). He had a plus/minus rating of +19 and was a
minus six times in 27 conference contests. He contributed offensively with a
power play goal and nine assists. Michigan had the second-best penalty killing
in league play at 84 percent.
