HOCKEY FALLS AT UMASS BOSTON, 6-2
BOSTON, MA-Host UMass Boston scored three times in the second period and went on to defeat the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's hockey team, 6-2, in a non-conference game at the Clark Athletic Center Tuesday evening.

Trevor Daniel gave UMB a 2-0 lead when he scored twice in the first period before junior forward Dave McDonald (Wakefield, MA/Valley Jr. Warriors) scored for UMD at 17:08. Sophomore forward Dan Dempsey (Norwell, MA/Lebanon Valley College) scored the Corsairs' other goal at 17:28 of the third period.
The Beacons, who led, 2-1, after the first period, took a 5-1 lead into the second intermission. The Corsairs capitalized on one of two power play chances when they scored in the third period.
"They were a very quick team that skated very well," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. "They are very skilled, and they play on a bigger ice surface, which their team is built for. Their speed was the difference. It's good to play up in non-league games against quality teams. Now, we have a very big league game with a team that we're tied for first place with at Plymouth State on Thursday."
UMB out shot UMass Dartmouth, 39-26. Senior goaltender Collin Tracy (Medford, MA/ Medford HS) made 33 saves for UMD, while Thomas Speer made 24 saves for the Beacons.
UMD dropped to 9-4-1 with the defeat, while UMB improved to 11-4-0 with the victory. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they visit Plymouth State Thursday evening. The Beacons will host Southern Maine Friday.
