The University of Southern Maine hockey team will switch from the
ECAC North-Central-South Division to the ECAC East-West Division
after this season.

The agreement between the school and the league is a four-year
deal.

The switch will allow USM to move into the NCAA tournament upon
qualifying.

Among Division III East's 20 teams are Bowdoin, Colby, Salem State,
Holy Cross, and Connecticut.

USM begins its 10th season this fall as an affiliate of ECAC North,
after being an NAIA team from 1972 through 1979.
