Henry Kissinger always espoused his theory of geopolitical linkage,
and today it seems as if we should apply that reasoning to Hartford,
Connecticut, former home of the Hartford Whalers.

If the Governor can get his bill through the emergency session of
the legislature, it looks like the Pats will be coming to Hartford. That
is a big "if", given that his party is in the minority in both houses and
the fact that there are plenty of social engineering ideologues in both
houses. But I would not count it out by any means. Probably 60-40 in
favor at this point. Connecticut, still on the rebound after being jilted
by the Whalers, is just "ga-ga" at the rapid developments. Don't be
surprised if this is just rammed through.

That means 1-A football for UConn is a foregone conclusion (which it
may have been anyway, just in a smaller stadium).

That means (for all you fans of root cause analysis, you will
recognize this as a "why flowdown"), due to gender equity, less likelihood
that UConn men's hockey will receive scholarships anytime soon. It also
means that women's varsity ice hockey will happen sooner, perhaps even with
some scholarships to offset the football increase.

Hmmm ... the times, they are a-changin'.
