For those who would bash Coach Walsh- let those who have not sinned cast the
first stone. I detect a hint of hypocrisy in those who would chastise Maine
for having the courage to stay with someone who did Coach the Bears to their
only NCAA title in any sport.

It is the system that needs repair- not Coach Walsh. It is all about wins and
losses. Do coaches get hired for great graduation rates? Hockey is a
relatively clean D1 revenue sport. A look at football or basketball is all
one needs to know. Does anyone remember the NCAA investigations at Arkansas
and Minnesota that were revealed shortly after Lou Holtz coached at those
schools? Did that stop Notre Dame from hiring him? The NCAA has always had
some programs in different sports that were sacred cows- i.e. ND football- as
the NCAA's favorite whipping boy Jerry Tarkanian (UNLV) once said of the
NCAA- "they got so upset with Kentucky (basketball) they put Cleveland State
on probation."
