I would imagine that there is much hype regarding the potential for Michigan
to tie Michigan State's CCHA-record win streak of 18 games this weekend.
That brings to mind some other noteable win streaks,
The RPI 1984-85 team won 30 games in a row en route to the NC$$ championship.
The streak was ended by a 3-3 tie by Lake Superior State (aha, another CCHA
school!). The unbeaten streak (downgraded from winning streak by the tie :-)),
reached about 40 or so games early the next season before the Engineers got
zapped by Yale 8-5!
I also remember Dartmouth having an unbeaten streak of some 40-something games
during the 1940's. Well, I'm only 29, I heard about it while at RPI.
BTW, how long was Maine's unbeaten streak last year before BU beat them
late in the season?
Hockey-L stat gurus, I put you to the test. What are some of the longest
college hockey winning and unbeaten streaks out there?
Another thing, has anybody ever considered having something like a Hobey
Baker award voted on by Hockey-L folks. We could call it the 'Hobey-L'
(bad pun intended!)....
Let's hear your thoughts....
