It wasn't pretty, but the Sioux snapped a 2-2 tie in the third period on a
nicely set up goal by sophomore Sean Beswick to upset previous WCHA co-leader
Northern Michigan 3-2 here in Grand Forks last night. Senior Kevin McKinnon
scored UND's first two goals. Bryan Ganz and Jason Hehr scored for the
Wildcats. Freshmen Toby Kvalevog, just back from the WJC, made 24 saves for
UND, while fellow rookie Dieter Kochan made 23 saves for the Wildcats.
A couple quick game notes....the Sioux and Wildcats entered the game with the
WCHA's top 2 power-play units (only .205 and.204, respectively); UND was 1-5
and NMU 1-4 last night....NMU will be playing the 700th game in the program's
history tonight (Comley has been the coach from day 1).
OTHER WCHA SCORES FROM LAST NIGHT
Minnesota-Duluth 5, @Michigan Tech 3
@St. Cloud State 4, Alaska-Anchorage 1
@Colorado College 6, Denver 5
BTW, St. Cloud State goalie Grant Sjerven played 152:56 straight shutout
minutes before Anchorage scored on him last night.
