MARQUETTE, Mich. -- Greg Hagen's goal at 1:50 of the third period
broke a 4-4 tie and St. Cloud State went on to hand Northern Michigan
a rare home loss, 6-4, Saturday night.
The Huskies got a fine goaltending performance from Mike O'Hara, who
made 30 saves. Jeff Saterdalen also scored twice for SCSU. Dallas
Drake had 2-1-3 and Mark Beaufait 0-3-3 for Northern Michigan, which
got 20 saves from Corwin Saurdiff.
A sidenote of significance: for perhaps the first time this season,
injuries arguably played a factor for NMU. Starting senior
defenseman Lou Melone, senior center Scott Beattie and freshman
forward Greg Hadden -- all regulars and all important cogs in a team
not nearly as deep as the national championship squad of a year ago,
were all out with injuries.
