Thursday involved travel from colorado springs to aurora for a short
visit with my daughter, son in law, and three grandchildren. then went
to berthoud for lunch with a friend before driving from there to
trenton, nebraska to spend the night with some friends. (360 miles)

Friday was a drive from trenton to des moines stopping off to see a
friend in council bluffs and a stay at what turned out to be a poor
sister to the infamous bates motel (460 miles)

Saturday was the drive to lauderdale, MN to erik and paula's house. We
went to the arena where i got my admission credential and then we went
out for a late lunch with several others. After the late lunch, it was
back to the arena for the tail end of the BC v huntsville game. Kinda
nice to see jerry york get win 925. That was followed by the air force
minnesota game which was not as close as i had hoped. Of interest was
the coach serratore versus player serratore interaction. (240 miles)

Sunday morning we watched several frank serratore you tube videos on the
big screen before lunch and then to the arena for the air force blowout
of huntsville and the BC minnesota game.

Monday we got ready for the new years eve party and grilled some beer
brats (yummy) During the party, last year's women's championship was on
the big screen.

Tuesday was an early departure to drive to kearney, ne, home of the tri
city storm and arena to at least one CHA championship
where i stayed with friends and watched some football until far too late
(570 miles)

today was the drive home along with lunch at lucy's cafe in sedgwick,
home of the best mountain oysters in colorado, another grandchildren
visit, and the usual heavy traffic between denver and the springs (420
miles)

Some reasonably good hockey. lots of cameraderie. 2050 miles. I ran into
about 30 former USAFA players that i knew, a bunch of player parents and
sponsors, several officials and broadcasters, and a bunch of friends of
friends. Would I do it again? ABSOLUTELY

Happy new years to all. see some of you in pittsburgh
