CORSAIRS SECOND IN PRE-SEASON ECAC NORTHEAST D3 POLL
CAPE COD, MA– Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Northeast Division III coaches have rated the University of Masssachusetts Dartmouth’s hockey team second behind Curry in the 2005-06 pre-season poll.
The Corsairs received three first-place votes in the poll and 130 points, behind the Colonels, who received the other nine first-place votes and 140 points. Wentworth was picked third, and Plymouth State fourth.
“On paper, that is probably the right spot for us,” said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. “Our team has some great veteran leadership, and any time you return a pre-season All-American (senior forward Eric Frank of Waltham, MA/Travis City Enforcers-CEJHL) who led the country in scoring, it’s certainly a positive.”
The Corsairs went 22-5 last season, 14-1 in ECAC Northeast Conference play. UMD advanced to the ECAC NE championship game, where they lost to Curry, the only team that defeated them in conference play. They will begin their season with a two-game series at Lebanon Valley College this weekend.
