[ Well, this was *supposed* to go out this morning, but it bounced horribly...
I hate sendmail... let's try it again ]
Like a number of other people, I've been noticing a decline in the number of
postings on HOCKEY-L.
In the category of "wish I'd said that", I'd like to second Deron's comments.
As HOCKEY-L administrator (and sometime, perhaps even frequent, poster), I
certainly do not want an environment in which people don't post for fear of
reprisals. If this is happening, we have a *serious* problem.
I would like to see more discussion on this, but HOCKEY-L isn't really the place
to do it. Enter Ralph Baer, who gave me a much-needed nudge with the following:
>By the way, do we still have the Hockey list for meta-messages about
>Hockey-L? This thread probably really should be there.
I meant to mention this a dog's age ago... the "meta-list" still exists and is
called HOCKEY. And Ralph is right, this discussion really should be taking
place on the meta-list. To subscribe to HOCKEY, send a message to
[log in to unmask] (Note: *not* to HOCKEY-L, or HOCKEY) and in the body
of the message, put
subscribe hockey your-full-name
Some of you are probably already subscribed to HOCKEY from previous discussions
about HOCKEY-L. If so, you'll get some sort of "already subscribed" message
which you can ignore. If not, you'll get a confirmation message.
One other reminder... scores, standings, and some game summaries are going to
INFO-HOCKEY-L, which may account for some of the things people think are missing
on HOCKEY-L. If you're not seeing as much of this information as you used to,
you may not be subscribed to the INFO-HOCKEY-L list. Subscribe in the manner
described above (email to [log in to unmask] , etc.) substituting the name
info-hockey-l for hockey in the subscribe command.
