Bicentennial Grants for Libraries
Yesterday Governor Janet T. Mills and the Maine Bicentennial Commission (Maine200) launched the Bicentennial Community Grants program, which will provide funding for bicentennial events and projects throughout the state. The Maine Bicentennial Commission is offering a total of $375,000 in Community Grants to support the interests, needs, and creativity of citizens and communities throughout Maine as they plan local commemorations of the Bicentennial.
Libraries are eligible for these grants. Learn more about what activities are eligible as well as the variety of funding levels at: https://www.maine200.org/community-grants
In addition to this program, the Fall and Spring MPLF grant opportunity will give priority to Bicentennial activities. More information about MPLF Bicentennial grants will be available sometime in September 2019. Information will be posted at: https://www1.maine.gov/msl/libs/admin/funding/MPLF.shtml
Information about any other grants that become available for Bicentennial activities will be posted at: https://www1.maine.gov/msl/libs/admin/funding/index.shtml
We want to encourage libraries to fully participate in Bicentennial activities and submit your events for inclusion in the calendar at the Maine 200 website. https://www.maine200.org/calendar#calendar
