Here are some upcoming deadlines (some rolling, some date specific) for grantmakers from the Maine Philanthropy Center. Please look each that you might be considering over carefully, as some are  location-specific. While many are not library focused per se, think about partnerships or programs you have or are considering that align with the respective missions of the grantmakers.

Rolling Grant Deadlines

Onion Foundation
The Discovery Grant is a mini grant designed for small scale projects that have a one year or less timeline, address a specific need, align with the mission and values of the Foundation, and benefit community members. The project may also respond to an unforeseen challenge or opportunity or provide seed funding to launch and explore a new idea.

The foundation supports programs designed to enhance the health and well-being of individuals and families. Special emphasis is directed toward programs designed to promote healthy generations.

JULY DEADLINES

The Betterment Fund
Giving limited to Maine. Education, health, conservation and community support are the primary grant categories. In addition, the Fund has defined a number of cross sector areas that combine interests in more than one of the primary categories, including the creative economy, early childhood, economic development, moving communities to health and philanthropy.

MainStreet Foundation
The MainStreet Foundation is a $1,000,000 Foundation with a single purpose and mission - assist organizations with a focus on helping at-risk youth in Maine. Our mission is simple, focused, and essential. The MainStreet Foundation helps keep kids safe, healthy, active, happy, educated, and nourished. These needs manifest themselves in a wide variety of circumstances and situations - and we strive to help as many non-profit agencies as possible. In fact, since our inception in 1997, the Foundation has awarded more than $700,000 to worthy charities.

Jane's Trust
Jane's Trust was created through the beneficence of Jane B. Cook. Trustees are interested in particularly in organizations and projects which primarily benefit under-served populations and disadvantaged communities. Jane's Trust will make grants to qualifying nonprofit organizations in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont; in southwest and central Florida; and in the greater Boston area of Massachusetts.

People's United Community Foundation
The foundation supports programs designed to promote affordable housing, youth development, and community development. Kendal C. & Anna Ham Charitable Foundation
The mission of The Kendal C. and Anna Ham Charitable Foundation is to improve the quality of life for people living in the Mount Washington Valley, New Hampshire, Bridgton and Fryeburg, Maine communities. Davis Family Foundation
The Davis Family Foundation is a public charitable foundation established by Phyllis C. Davis and H. Halsey Davis of Falmouth, Maine, to support educational, medical and cultural/arts organizations located primarily in Maine. Their overriding goal for the Foundation was simple and straightforward: "to make grants where they will do the most good and where our gifts make a real difference."

Maine Humanities Council
The Maine Humanities Council, Maine's affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) since 1975, offers humanities programs and grants for all Mainers. There are 55 humanities councils, one in each state and the territories. The MHC doesn't do this work alone-our partners (libraries, hospitals, school districts, adult education programs, correctional facilities, historical societies, and more) make it possible for us to offer quality programs and grants around the state.

Machias Savings Bank shares the belief that strengthening and supporting the organizations that contribute to the economic and social well-being is good for the communities we serve. The Bank is committed to the support of non-profit organizations and activities that advance community development and improve the quality of life in our communities.
For 2019, the grant scope will increase from $50,000 to $150,000 in honor of our 150th anniversary.
