[Please excuse cross-postings.]
Good day! Michigan University is offering courses beginning June 1 and June 5 respectively in "Identifying Community Needs in Public Library Management" and "managing a Diverse and Inclusive Workplace for Public Libraries." These are offered online as a MOOC through EdX: https://www.edx.org/professional-certificate/michiganx-public-library-management
These courses are two of eight that are offered through MichiganX for a Public Library Management Certificate. You can either pay to receive the certification by course or by program ($352 for all eight courses if you pay for the complete program at once), OR you can audit the courses for free.
Other courses in this certificate program include:
"Personnel Management for Public Libraries"
"Budgeting and Finance for Public Libraries"
"Infrastructure Management for Libraries"
"Strategic Planning for Public Libraries"
"Grant Writing and Crowd Funding for Public Libraries"
"Public Library Marketing and Public Relations"
While these courses are self-paced, you can expect each course to last about four weeks and require about four hours per week of effort and time. You'll note that some of these courses have passed and are archived, but they do cycle around to become live again. If there is interest in having a live cohort of people in Maine taking these courses together and meeting periodically for more in-depth work, please do let me or your regional rep or liaison know!
Respectfully,
Lisa
