*What is happening?*
On Wednesday, February 20th, 2019, from 6 a.m. - 6.30 a.m., US:IT staff
will be upgrading security settings and applying OS patches to the UMF
custom web application server ("nanny").
During this work, some UMF-specific applications and MyCampus portal
modules will be affected. Additionally, the US:IT Service Catalog will be
unavailable. The expected downtime is less than 30 minutes.
*Why is this work necessary?*
The SSL cipher configuration needs to be updated to exclude a
vulnerability in an older cipher implementation. Additionally OS patches
need to be brought up to date to maintain security.
*What happens if the work is not successful?*
If there are issues discovered during the update process, or shortly
thereafter, we will attempt to correct the issues. If the reported issues
can not be resolved, we will revert back to the current server settings
while we investigate the issue further.
If you experience any server communication issues that you believe are
related to this work, please contact IT Support Services at 800.696.4357 or
by email: [log in to unmask]
