Subject: Student Atheletes
 
    Okay, before I start WWIII here I'm not trying to justify or refute any
of the league comparisons made over the past few days.  Please be patient
before starting angry replies.
 
    My question is directed towards factors influencing athletic recruiting
in the HE and ECAC.  I know from going to Clarkson location is many times as
big a factor as others, but we'll ignore it here.  Hockey players must make
their decisions on schools just like anyone else.  They'll look at a number
of things; strengths and weaknesses of academics and hockey programs, costs
etc.  I've tried to include some of these:
 
    What are the:
    	- GPA of the current varsity squad
    	- Tuition Costs of the school
    	- Athletic Scholarship available
    	- Male / Female Ratio at the school
    	- Average SAT requirements
 
 
    Also:
    	- What is the major academic emphasis of the school, i.e. Clarkson
is mainly an engineering university.
 
    I've stated my piece on the academic question before, but I disagree
that the ECAC must make changes to lift their competitive levels.  If we're
stuck at this 33% vs. HE because of our recruiting and academic practices,
this alum says so be it.  The game is for the students not the NCAAs or
ESPN; I'm proud of any school still putting academics first and foremost.
Sports programs can still be important and high caliber.
