According to the local papers, Jeff Jackson was offered the job.
He appeared to be very interested in it, but obviously decided
to stay at LSSU (if in fact an offer was made by UMass).  The
Amherst job would have increased his salary about 170% and placed
much closer (in the same conference!) as his buddy Shawn Walsh.
But, IMHO, LSSU should and will be ranked #1 heading into 1993-94
and that would seem to be strong motivation to stay.
