The BG color man summed it up well: "Now we know BG isn't as good as we
thought." A Falcon sweep of FSU, and BG would be in good position to
finish among the top 6 in the league. Even a split would have kept them
in the hunt. But after being broomed, BG is 3 points behind Ferris in
7th, having played 2 more games, and losing the tie-breaker. In
esssence they are as many as 8 points out of home ice. Couple that
with the surge of UIC and UND (and even Kent), and BG could fall
farther. The last bit of bad news is that the Falcons' next 5 games are
against teams in the upper half of the standings.

Bowling Green led in the third period of both games. They were up 3-2
Friday but lost 4-3 in OT. Saturday, they played well for 40 minutes
and led 2-0 before Ferris got 4 straight goals. 4-3 final this time,
but no OT needed.

Aaron Ellis played good in net, but it was not enough for BG. Pat
Mazzoli and Craig Lisko each earned a W for FSU, making a stronger case
that the Bulldogs have the best two-some in the league.

I have the box from Friday, but the details from Saturday are sketchy.
There was a brawl o' frustration at the end of that game, but the refs
were nice to BG and no one was kicked out.
