In response to the explanation of games in Alaska not counting in the 34 game
limit, Shane Kingry asks:

The by-law specifically applies to non-Alaskan teams (see the last sentence in
the by-law).  UAF and UAA are subject to the NCAA limits for their home games &
for their away games.  (The by-law was written to "encourage" Outside teams to
make road trips to the Alaskan schools.)  If UAA has 32 games locked in by the
WCHA, then indeed they only have two other games to schedule.
 
At the moment, the exclusion rule would indeed remain in effect when UAA and
UAF become full members of their conferences.  I wouldn't be surprised to see
an amendment proposed that would rescind the exclusion for conference games.
However, I haven't heard that any school is going to submit the proposal.
Perhaps one of the coaches on the list could answer that.
