at #1 Quinnipiac 3, #9 Cornell 2 (2OT) (Quinnipiac wins series 2-1)
Kevin Bowie scored his second goal of the season at 14:08 of the
second overtime to send Quinnipiac to Atlantic City. Cornell was 65
seconds from advancing, but Clay Harvey scored a 6-on-5 goal for the
Bobcats to tie the game with 1:04 left. Braden Birch opened the
scoring for Cornell only 48 seconds into the game, as the Big Red led
1-0 after the first period. The teams traded goals in the second, with
Zach Tolkinen scoring for the Bobcats and Brian Ferlin replying for
Cornell. Quinnipiac outshot Cornell 63-31 overall, including 47-15
from the start of the third period. Andy Iles made 60 saves for
Cornell, while Eric Hartzell had 29 stops for the Bobcats. Cornell
only managed one shot on goal in the second overtime, to 14 by
Quinnipiac.

#7 Brown 3, at #2 RPI 2 (Brown wins series 2-1)
A pair of goals 50 seconds apart in the first period gave the Brown
Bears a 2-0 lead, and they never looked back as they became the first
#7 seed to advance to the semifinals (in the current format). Jake
Goldberg scored at 10:56 of the first, with Matt Lorito doubling the
lead at 11:46. Brown extended their lead to 3-0 at 5:06 of the second
on a goal by Nick Lappin. The Enginners came back with a pair of goals
late in the second, by Marc McGowan at 17:25 and Mike Zalewski at
19:13, but could not find an equalizer in the final 20:47. Anthony
Borelli made 40 saves for the Bears, who were outshot 42-17. Jason
Kasdorf had 14 saves for RPI.

RPI and Cornell are both in a six-way tie for 16th in the Pairwise
rankings, so it would appear that their seasons are done. (I could
probably play with the YATC all day tomorrow trying to find a way to
get one or both of them in, but I like to keep up the pretense that I
have a life....)

The semi-final matchups are #1 Quinnipiac vs. #7 Brown and #3 Yale vs.
#4 Union.
