MEN'S HOCKEY FALLS TO PRINCETON, 5-2
Tigers explode for five goals in second period for the win

Princeton University scored five goals in the second period and went on to
defeat Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), 5-2, in a critical ECAC
Hockey League Division I men's hockey game at the Houston Field House in
Troy, N.Y.

With the victory, Princeton improves to 8-18-2 overall and 6-14-1 in the
league. The Tigers take sole possession of tenth place in the
standings. Rensselaer, which is now in eleventh place, falls to13-20-2
overall and 5-15-1 in the ECACHL. RPI closes out the regular season by
hosting twelfth-place Yale on Saturday night while the Tigers will play at
Union. Both games begin at 7pm.

After a scoreless first period, the Engineers got on the board first on a
slapshot by junior defenseman Brad Farynuk. Classmate Kirk MacDonald
earned the only assist on the play, which came at the 5:38 mark. From that
point, the period was all Princeton, which got five goals in 9:41,
including three in a span of 3:23. Junior Dustin Sproat, the ECACHL's
leading point producer in league games, tied the score at 6:24 when he
jammed in a rebound. Junior Mark Masters put the visitors ahead just 1:46
later on a shot from the bottom of the left circle and senior Neil
Stevenson-Moore made it 3-1 at 9:47. Luc Paquin put the Tigers ahead 4-1
at 11:40, chasing RPI netminder Andrew Martin, and Stevenson-Moore tallied
his second of the game, this time on Jordan Alford, at 15:05. Sophomore
Grant Goeckner-Zoeller picked up two assists and Moore also had a helper in
the period for Princeton, which outshot RPI 12-5 in the stanza.

Junior Kevin Croxton scored on a wristshot at 5:16 of the third period to
pull the Engineers to within two goals. Jake Luthi and Oren Eizenman set
up the goal, which was Croxton's 99th career point (40 goals, 59 assists).

Junior Eric Leroux made 26 saves to earn the win in goal for the
Tigers. He is now 6-11-2 on the season. Martin, who had eight saves,
suffered the loss to fall to 8-15-1. Alford stopped nine shots in relief.
