There's a story in today's Boston Globe about Jim Craig (he's now working
for a company that produces those advertising inserts in newspapers) and
it has an interesting sidebar about Pelle Lindbergh. Virtually everyone
remembers Craig being draped in the American flag in 1980 after beating
Finland to win the gold. Craig said he traded the flag to Lindbergh sometime
later for one of Pelle's jerseys (the two had become good friends). After
Pelle's horrible death in a car crash about 5-6 years ago, Craig received a
package in the mail that contained a flag, and there was a note from a woman
(doesn't say who) that said this was the flag Pelle had said he got from Jim
Craig. So Craig believes he has that famous flag - but he can't be 100%
sure.

Jim Craig still gets over 50 pieces of fan mail a month at his home in
Massachusetts. Much of it is from Europe.
