| While we're on the topic of cheering against non-opponents, Cornell fans
| always say "Screw BU, so-and-so too," just for the tradition of it, but
only
| once or twice a game when the band plays the appropriate tune. Do any BU
| fans remember (or care) what a great rivalry that was, or has this become
a
| one-sided rivalry?

I think that for BU fans, no rivalry will match that with Boston College.
While we currently also consider Maine and UNH to be tough rivals, if they
were to move to a different conference or if they were to become
uncompetitive for more than a few years, I doubt we would care as much about
them. [Our inability to compete at times doesn't seem to be much of a
factor in such things. :)]

With BC, however, we considered them our fiercest rival even when we beat
them 13[?] games in a row back in the middle 90s. Those 13 wins just
weren't enough. :)

While I wasn't around when Cornell was also a huge rival, if not ecclipsing
BC in the sixties and seventies, I am well aware of the rivalry by talking
with those BU fans who were around as well as Cornell fans who still talk
about it. So, I think that it is a situation akin to that with Maine and
UNH now. If we keep playing them, we'll keep hating them. :)

So, I am glad that Cornell and BU have resumed playing each other in recent
years, so that the chance of getting the rivalry back still exists.
Unfortunately, those early years of Hockey East, when they didn't play as
many games with the ECAC, have probably hurt the rivalry from BU's
perspective too much to recover it fully (or even partially?) on our end.
