I thought I'd chime in here on this too. I personally didn't go to
the games so have no firsthand accounts, but I have been to Anaheim
and do have opinions on the coverage.

Location:
I felt that hosting the Frozen Four in Anaheim was somewhat akin to a
circus sideshow or exhibition games at best to nearly all the local
crowd. What was the NC$$ thinking? I think the schools and fans got
the shaft. And on the telecast, was there something to all the
gratuitous shots of Michael Eisner? He's such a fan of the game.
Well, so are we. I guess the guy with the hockey rink gets to host
the games?

Announcers:
Did anyone notice how many times Dave Ryan said that in college
hockey, "no touch-up required for icing."? Duh, isn't that obvious?
We're fans, we know the rules. Brian Engblom must have told him that
just before air-time. Too bad he didn't tell him it's just "Maine",
not "U-Maine".

By the way, I think Brian did an excellent job. He had followed some
of the regional games and was knowledgeable about the college game and
players. I recall that Steve Levy and Barry Melrose called the games
last year and I think they did a pretty good job. Steve may have
gotten a few things wrong, but at least he wasn't annoying.

I agree that Gary Thorne would be an excellent choice for
play-by-play, but he's calling pro hockey and baseball now - good luck
getting him for the frozen four.

Again, for all the complaining, thanks ESPN and ESPN2.
