It will be interesting to see how many fans this ECAC/HE doubleheader
draws in Hartford tonight. All college hockey fans in central CT are
hoping it will do well, perhaps even fill up the bottom section of the
Civic Center. That would cause folks in the UConn Athletic Department to
sit up and really take notice of the possibilities. Of course, this
event would have been a much better box office draw if it had worked out
that it could have been packaged as a tripleheader instead of a
doubleheader. A hockey version of the U Game starting this year (UMass vs.
UConn) would have been icing on the cake and would have ensured a big
crowd. In any event, it is time that particular game came about anyway.
  Next year perhaps??

The Hartford Courant has a nice article on Maine and Shawn Walsh on the
front page today. The URL is:

Lucky for us that Boston folks don't regularly read the Courant or they
would be off on a rant about Maine and Walsh again. One can't help but
think this article is another in the back and forth between Boston and
Hartford given the recent history with the Patriots. (Boston sports
writers have called us and our town every name in the book:-):-)
Personally, I don't much like paying for the Patriots, but then again
we DO have the bucks ($300MM surplus this year:-):-). In fact, perhaps
we should find out how much Boston really loves the Red Sox.
