Amiot to direct Mankato State athletics
Don Amiot, who led Mankato State's men's hockey program from Division
III into the Division I WCHA has been named director of the school's
newly combined athletic departments.
Amiot, the men's athletic director for 10 years, now will oversee a
single department with 21 sports for men and women.
"This is an exciting time for MSU and I'm proud that I'm going to be
part of it," he said.
Amiot, who served for five years as athletic director at Division III
Wisconsin-Stevens Point before going to Mankato State, was chosen from a
pool of 55 candidates. With the recent retirement of women's athletic
director Georgene Brock, Amiot's ascension initiates the merger of
departments.
