It describes each team's possible finishes based on the tiebreaker
outcomes which Jayson Moy and I independently posted last night, and
which Jayson explained.
 
        The format is adapted from two-game possibilities generated by
Bill Fenwick this past week.
 
        Probably the cutest aspect is that Vermont can finish ahead of
Princeton or Harvard but not both.  And in order to finish ahead of
Harvard, they must finish behind Dartmouth.  Also, Cornell is the king
of the tiebreakers, defeating any other team of teams.  What could be
settled by this afternoon's Cornell-Clarkson game?  A Cornell win
would give Yale the regular season title, and ensure the Big Red of
sixth place and either a home ice series (if Colgate loses) or a
series at Colgate (if not).  A Clarkson win or a tie means Cornell
cannot get home ice, but keeps Harvard and Princeton alive in that
hunt.
 
        Now, on to the details:

Yale:
 
   Tonight:
          at Rensselaer.
 
   Possible Finish:
          First or Second.
 
   On Their Own:
          Clinch first with a win.
 
   Tiebreakers:
          Loses to Clarkson.
 
   Possibilities:
          With a win, finish first
 
 
          With a tie, finish first if Clarkson loses or ties, otherwise
          second.
 
 
          With a loss, finish first if Clarkson loses, otherwise second
 
Clarkson:
 
   Tonight:
          Cornell.
 
   Possible Finish:
          First or Second.
 
   On Their Own:
          Already clinched second.
 
   Tiebreakers:
          Win against Yale.
 
   Possibilities:
          With a win, finish first if Yale loses or ties, otherwise
          second.
 
 
          With a tie, finish first if Clarkson loses, otherwise second.
 
 
          With a loss, finish second.
 
Rensselaer:
 
   Tonight:
          Yale.
 
   Possible Finish:
          Third.
 
   Tiebreakers:
          Irrelevant.
 
   Possibilities:
          Will finish third.
 
Brown:
 
   Tonight:
          at Vermont.
 
   Possible Finish:
          Fourth.
 
   Tiebreakers:
          Win against Colgate.
 
   Possibilities:
          Will finish fourth.
 
Colgate:
 
   Tonight:
          at St. Lawrence.
 
   Possible Finish:
          Fifth, sixth, seventh or eighth.
 
   On Their Own:
          Clinch fifth place with a win or tie.
 
   Tiebreakers:
          Lose to Brown, Cornell and Harvard; win against Princeton,
          unless also tied with Harvard.
 
   Possibilities:
          With a win or tie, finish fifth.
 
 
          With a loss:
 
          + Finish fifth if neither Cornell nor Harvard wins.
          + Finish sixth if Cornell wins and Harvard doesn't, or if
            Harvard wins and Cornell and Princeton doesn't.
          + Finish seventh if Cornell and Harvard win and Princeton
            doesn't, or if Princeton and Harvard win and Cornell doesn't.
          + Finish eighth if Cornell, Harvard and Princeton all win.
 
Cornell:

            doesn't win.
          + Finish sixth if Colgate loses and Harvard and Cornell win, or

          With a tie:
 
          + Finish sixth if Cornell loses and Harvard doesn't win.

          + Finish eighth if Harvard wins and Cornell doesn't lose.
 
 
          With a loss:
 
          + Finish seventh if Harvard loses to Dartmouth.
          + Finish eighth if Harvard doesn't lose to Dartmouth and
            Vermont doesn't win.
          + Finish ninth if Vermont wins and Harvard doesn't lose to
            Dartmouth.
 
Harvard:

          at Dartmouth.
 
   Possible Finish:
          Fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth or tenth.
 
   On Their Own:
          Clinch eighth with a win or tie.
 
   Tiebreakers:
          Win against Colgate, lose to Cornell, Princeton and Vermont;
          win against Dartmouth unless also tied with Vermont.

          Lose to Cornell and Dartmouth; beat Harvard and St. Lawrence;
          beat Princeton unless also tied with Dartmouth and Harvard.
 
   Possibilities:
          With a win:
 
          + Finish eighth if Princeton loses and Dartmouth doesn't beat
            Harvard.
          + Finish ninth otherwise.
 
 
          With a tie:
 
          + Finish ninth if Darmouth loses.
          + Finish tenth if Dartmouth doesn't lose.
 
 
          With a loss:
 
          + Finish tenth if St. Lawrence doesn't win.
          + Finish eleventh if St. Lawrence wins.
 
St. Lawrence:

          Colgate.
 
   Possible Finish:
          Ninth, tenth or eleventh.
 
   On Their Own:
          Already clinched eleventh.
 
   Tiebreakers:
          Loses to Dartmouth and Vermont.
