Since this silly debate started late Sunday, I was waiting for the scab to
get reopened, and it didn't take very long.

I'll start from the beginning --

The Gophers got whooped, plain and simple. Every Gopher fan's post has
admitted this, and a few got their zingers in, as well (see the end of
Carol White's post). But if I am Willy Marvin, I would have jumped Jason
Blake, too. No Q's asked, period. Anyone who would skate in front of my
bench and point at the scoreboard would get the same treatment, regardless
if he was just returning a taunt or a "yap". That is the end of that.

As for the play of the Sioux, my hat is off to you. Though this was
a chippy series, the Sioux prevailed despite a tremendous performance by
Steve DeBus (definitely the goalie of the year in the WCHA). Jason Blake
had a great series, and the entire Sioux defense core played well.

But we had to bring up the "Minnesota-only players" recruiting debate
again, didn't we? Once again, when the arguments heat up, old debates are
stirred up, too. I for one am tired of hearing about it. My answer to
this, be it Canadians or Americans, who are opposed to the University of
Minnesota's recruiting policy is this:

View the videotape called "Minnesota's Pride on Ice: 75 Years of
Golden Gopher Hockey" and learn the story behind the
recruiting policy. Learn about how John Mariucci brought this program
to greatness through using Minnesota players. This tape may have a
Minnesota bias, but it states fairly why the U of M decided to go
with Minnesota players only, and why Mariucci is revered as he is
        here.

I finally was able to purchase and view this tape, and I was able to learn
this in a nutshell. I think this videotape should put to rest the debate
that has been on and off for some time now. Nearly all of you who will
read this cannot obtain this videotape, but for those who can, it tells
the entire story and, in my mind, justifies any questions I may have had
in the past about Woog's Minnesota-only policy. I think if many of you had
the chance to view this tape, you may say the same thing, or maybe not.
Who knows? Anyway, I thought I would put my $ .02 in
