To add to some of what's been said already:

The 1993 Michigan/Maine semifinal was one the most exciting games I have
ever seen (I was sitting right near the glass and had a great time).
While both teams played a great game, Michigan played a better 1st and
2nd period, Maine played a better 3rd and OT. Michigan took its own
potent offense and kept Maine playing defensive hockey for the first two
periods, earning a 2-0 lead. Then, Michigan came out for the third
playing "please don't score on us" defensive hockey. Against the sheer
firepower of the 1993 Blackbears, this not the type of hockey one wants
to play. Maine took advantage of the opportunities and fought themselves
back to the OT victory (which the Badger fans in attendence just loved as
the Wolverines had knocked off the Badgers in the regional finals by the
same 4-3 OT score).

Michigan's Mike Knuble is one of the 6 or so that are still on the
Michigan team that played in that semifinal. He remembers the loss ery
vividly, at least according to stories in the local newspapers. After
the game Maine coach Shawn Welsh made a few comments belittling the
Wolverines, which didn't the help the Wolverines get over the loss any
faster. (before I get too many flames on this one, I can gather my
Detroit Free Press and verify this claim...)

The rematch tomorrow should be just as exciting as the 1993
game, simply because the Wolverines *really* want to get back at the
Blackbears.

I can't wait for this one, it should be one hell of a game, and there's
no way I'm going to miss it...

Drop the Puck!
roger :)

to chime in the chants/cheers discussion, and not to toot my own horn or
anything, but toot toot!, I was the first to utter those now heard way
too often three words at Yost... Not that anyone really cares!
