.....the Laker hex comes back to haunt the BU Terriers!!!

Well, it looks like PC coach (former LSSU assistant) Paul Pooley has
officially brought the Laker hex to Providence. As most of you well
know LSSU beat BU 9-1 in last year and they beat BU 6-1 in the previous
year's semifinals. BU beat PC 9-2 Jan. 10 in Providence. Hmmmm, maybe
the Laker hex was on strike with the baseball players that night.

This game was ugly folks. This BU team quite possibly has the most talent
in college hockey. (no flames please) However, as opposed to a team like
Maine, they are very undisiplined and shaky at times. The Beanpot win
went straight to their heads and they forgot to show up at Providence.
The BU game was a comedy of errors with a cast of thousands of missed
passes and mental miscues. This is not taking away anything from
Providence. BU on an off-night is still a good team and the score was 8-1!
The Friars played their hearts out and got a juicy win over the #2 team in
the country.

I must add that this game could be even more embarrassing than Maine losing
to UMass-Amherst 4-2. Hopefully BU will use their loss much the same way
that Maine did. BU needs to be reminded that the season is far from over,
with two more important tournaments to win. That they need to work
unselfishly as a team and work for what they achieve. I hope that BU
can turn this loss into something positive.

Congrats to PC, they played an entirely different game than they did in
January and deserved the win. The game tonight at BU should be interesting.

This result means that BU almost has no chance to catch Maine. Maine's
magic number is now 5 points. If BU wins the rest of their games, Maine
would have to lose 2 of 3 and tie the other for BU to clinch 1st. Oh
well, thank goodness the HE champion is decided by the tournament!! The
hopes for a repeat championship are far from over.

On the goalie preserverance rating. Thanks to Sean Pickett for showing
how flawed this rating is. Not including last night's game, Derek
Herlofsky is in no way a "horrible" goalie!
