Tonight's game was proof that BGSU is still a young team relearning winning
ways, while LSSU, even with their dismal record so far this year, is still a
team that knows how to win, and knows how to win big games. For BG, tonight's
game saw poor defense, sub-par play, lackluster goaltending, and a loss of
composure which really makes many of us wonder where this team came from
tonight. Coupled with poor reffing which let the game get out of hand late,
tonight's game was one we would sooner forget. Take nothing away from Lake
State, though, they owned the game beginiing to end. They out shot, out
played, and out thought the Falcons this evening en route to a 7-2 Thrashing.

BG scored first blood at 7:00 when Mike Hall scored what was to be BG's only
goal until the 3rd period. LSSU came back at 9:59 with Mike Morin's shot
catching the right post past Will Clarke. This was the first of many that
Clarke would watch pass him - some the defense's fault, some LSSU's skill, and
several, just poor goaltending - probably Clarke's worst of the season. The
Lakers went ahead for good at 10:11 when Wayne Strachan's catches the rebound
and throws it in over Clarke's right skate.

Lake State came out equally hot in the 2nd with a quick goal (set up by BG
allowing a continuous flurry of attempts in front of the net) at 1:05 again by
Mike Morin. To further drive the point home, the Lakers follow that up at 3:49
with a shot from Gerald Tallaire from the right circle (this one was clearly
Clarke's fault). The final goal in the period came on the power play by Lake
State and Sean Tallaire at 9:12 on a rebound which caught Clarke down on his
side.

The third period started out right for BG - Crombeen's power play goal at :46
gave the Falcons the opportunity they needed. It was obvious, however, that
the momentum was not to switch when the Lakers scored for the third time off of
Mike Morin at 1:29 which trickles past Clarke on the low right. The hat trick
for Morin was a well-deserved cap for the night. The Lakers finished the night
with a break-away from Danny Galarneau. The third period also saw the Falcons
lose their composure and the ref's lose control. There were a total of 15
penalties in the 3rd period (including 5 10 minute misconducts and 1 game DQ).
It appeared that BG became increasingly frustrated with the inability to get
their game on track tonight, and the more frustrated they got, the more the
discipline broke down, and the worse the quality of play became.

Tomorrow night's game is again at the Norris Center, presumably with Petrie in
net for the Falcons. If they can re-group this should be the contest it was
meant to be - if not, Lake State is certainly straightening out its path to the
playoffs as we enter the stretch.
