BU coach Jack Parker is also an assistant AD (or was) and several years ago
he was named to become the new AD, when Rick Taylor left for Cincinnati
during the hockey season. Since BU is DivI in all sports he was planning on
stepping down as hockey coach after the season ended and hire a new hockey
coach. Instead, after much thought, he stepped down from the AD job and
remained the hockey coach (he joked that he hired himself for the coaching
job before resigning as AD).

At Harvard Bill Cleary resigned as hockey coach when he became the Crimson's
AD in the summer of 1990.

I do not think Ron Mason would be allowed to remain as head hockay coach if
he became the AD at Michigan State. The real question is does he want to
become the AD, like Bill Cleary did, or remain the hocky coach, like Jack
Parker did?

And, if he did become AD and resigned the coaching job, would Shawn Walsh be
interested in becoming the new MSU head hockey coach? A thought that just
this minute popped into my head.
