I just wanted to point out that while Wisconsin does have a music
program, the band is comprised of mostly non-music majors, at least
that was the case when I was a member from 83-87.  There were a lot
of engineers, and lots of other departments represented.
 
Since the hockey band was the same group of people as the marching
band, the main criteria for being there was marching, if you've seen
the Wisconsin Band at a football game you understand why.
