In a game which should have been entitled, "The Good, the Bad and
the Ugly", UND comes away with a 4-1 win in front of 4,000 fans in Grand
Forks.

The Bad:
UND's first period left many wondering of the Sioux decided to go
on Spring Break and put the kybosh on the play-offs. Sloppy UND
transitions combined with a fairly aggressive MTU team as well as great
Tech goaltending seemed to frustrate UND. It was not until the six
minute mark of the second that the Sioux finally scored one.

The Good:
The first goal, completely turned things around. The Sioux
started to use their speed to frustrate the Tech defense. Two UND shots
hit the pipes and several break-aways were stopped by the Tech goalie.
If it had not been for his hot hand, the game would have easily been a
blow-out. The UND defense also had another great night and gave MTU very
few scoring oppourtunities; I only counted a handful of turnovers.

The Ugly:
The officiating! Buzz Christenson made a return appearance, and
I sereiously hope that after tonight that the WCHA does not hire him next
year. The style of the game continually accelerated to an unglier
nature. With five minutes left in the game, the accelleration
rapidly increased until players were taking cheap shots right and
left and were not being penalized. The WCHA should be thankful that no
one was seriously injured tonight due to the fact that the injuries would
have been a direct result of neglegence of the officials.

Other notes:
UND fans need to be reminded of the rules in regard to scoring
after the buzzer. At the end of the second, a Sioux player took a shot
and it went in well over half a second after the buzzer (I was sitting
right on the line, and it was CLEARLY late). The crowd went nuts even
though the call was blatently sound.
