After reading many posts on the gopher-sioux series, which turned into "bash
the gophers-- everyone root for their favorite team and who ever plays the
gophers" discussion. Yes, I am an avid gopher fan, but I had trouble seeing
where many of the discussion led to. People seem to be "ripping" the
recruiting practices of Minnesota. Yes, I too have heard Doug Woog can be
arrogant at times and being close to hockey in Minnesota I see the cockyness
of gopher fans. From my vantage point I am happy with recruiting because
they do consistently get some of the top crop of high school players with
some exceptions (Cullen, Parrish, DeWolf of SCSU.) To mess with tradition
seems a little stupid, but if Minnesota wants its team to represent the
state and be the "pride on ice," so be it.

At the same time however, I agree with the previous posts that Minnesota has
not been in the cellar with other consistent teams to remain nameless in the
last seven years at least, if not more. Therefore, I have no problem with
their recruiting practices and if I am correct, I really see no point for
anti-gopher fans to bash it.
