Hi -

As reported in this morning's Washington "Post" ....

  Riverfront Needs Boost
  ----------------------

"The NCAA wants improvements at Cincinnati's 21-year-old Riverfront
Coliseum before the women's [basketball] Final Four, 28-30 March. NCAA
officials attended a basketball doubleheader last week, and found faded
paint, torn seats, poor concession services, and bad plumbing [<grin>].
'The building needs a multimillion-dollar refurbishing,' Don Schumacher,
executive director of the Greater Cincinnati Sports and Events Commission,
said in yesterday's editions of the Cincinnati "Post." 'The NCAA left us
a long list of things to resolve, and they want a report by Feb. 1.'"

Gee, none of these "problems" seemed to faze the NC$$ last year before/
during the Phinal Phour - have they had their heads in the sand the past
10 months ?? Why did it take them this long to realize there were (and
remain) some serious deficiencies at Riverfront ?? One wonders if the
GCSEC will retain the same crew to fix the "plumbing" this time around :-)

  Cheers from Maryland - Jim
