Three CCHA players have been selected for the 1995 USA Hockey Select Team,
which will participate in a four-game series against Canada's National Team
before moving on to take part in the B.C. Cup '95, set for March 23-26 in
Kitimat, British Columbia.  From the CCHA are goaltender Brian Renfrew (Western
Mcihigan) and forwards Tim Harberts (Notre Dame) and Brian Gallentine (Western
Michigan).  Former CCHA head coaches Jerry York (now with Boston College) and
Bob Mancini (now with Michigan Tech) will be co-coaches for the USA Select Team.

BAUER/CCHA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Wayne Strachan, a senior center from
Lake Superior State University, has been selected the Bauer/CCHA Offensive
Player of the Week for his performance the weekend of March 18-19, 1995.  He
played junior hockey for the Thunder Bay Flyers of the United States Hockey
League.
 
Strachan, a 5-10, 185-pound native of Fort Frances, Ontario, had five points
(one goal, four assists) as the Lakers won the CCHA playoff title with wins
over Michigan and Michigan State.  In LSSU's 5-4 (OT) win over Michigan on
Saturday, he had a goal and an assist.  He added three assists in the
championship game win over Michigan State.
 
COOPER/CCHA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Mike Buzak, a senior goaltender from
Michigan State University, has been selected the Cooper/CCHA Defensive Player
of the Week for the weekend of March 18-19, 1995.  He played junior hockey for
the Fort Saskatchewan Traders and was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in 1993.
 
Buzak, a 6-3, 190-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta, stopped 62 of 69 shots
(.899 saves percentage) as the Spartans reached the CCHA Championship game for
the first time since 1990.  He turned aside 35 shots in Saturday's 4-3 (OT) win
over Bowling Green, including nine in overtime.  In Sunday's championship game,
Buzak finished with 27 saves.  This is the fourth time this season he has been
selected CCHA Defensive Player of the Week.
