After Ned Harkness coached at RPI and Cornell he went to the Detroit
Red Wings before becoming the coach at Union. I can't remember,
however, if Ned was the coach or the GM of the Red Wings.

On another topic, RPI was shut out in its last two games. Does anyone
know when the last time this happened was? I checked Press guides back
through the 85-86 season and noted that it did not happen at least as
far back as 84-85. As I do not have game-by-game scores for most
previous years in easily accessible former, I quickly gave up at this
point. (I have old College Hockey Newsletters back through 67-68, but
these are difficult to work with.) I figure that this statistic might
have appeared in some newspaper article in Troy/Albany, has it? I
remember vaguely when I arrived at Troy in 1964 that RPI had gone about
10 seasons without being shut out at all, but I might be wrong. It
wouldn't surprise me if the last time that RPI was shut out twice in a
row was 65-66 when everyone was shutting out what must have been the
worst Div-I team in college hockey history, but I was also unable to
find game scores for that season.
