Well folks, some bad news on the Engineer front. There are 2 points here:

1) Last night's game was a let down for alot of fans, as well as the Enginer
team. The first period was very evenly played, as Neil Little looked sharp
on 3 oddman rushes by the Warriors. The first half of the second period was
also very evenly played. The Engineers lost a golden opportunity to
score eatly on in the second when Dan Gibson of Merrimack was tossed from the
game with an intentional spearing penalty against Kely Askew.
Kiley was in the box, when this occurred, so a little over 4 minutes of
power play time was alloted for the Engineers. But Brad Layzell took a
minor and the rest of the penalty was sufficiently negated. Legault
looked very sharp.

Then the floodgates opened on Neil Little. The first goal came on a
play from behind the net, as Little never saw it come out front and get
poked in. No sooner had they faced off had Mailhiot deked Chris Kiley and
took a point blank shot shot on Little that trickled through the legs
of Little. No sooner had the next faceoff occured had a shot from right
wing gone either off or underneath the crossbar, but the the ref Murphy called
it a goal. My view was that it went in and bounced out, but others say the
angle was not there for that to happen. Nevertheless, 3 goals for
Merrimack in 31 SECONDS.

The Engineers tried to come back for the third period. First goal was scored by Wayne Clarke crashing the net and poking it through. Kelly Askew's deflec-
tion went past Legault with about 6 minutes left.

The last minute rush was thwarted by Legault has Askew had a point blank shot
on Legault and Legault glove hand was faster than a pee in the morning.

Merrimack scored an empty netter, and the final was 4-2 Merrimack.

Merrimack played a beautiful defensive game, and forechecked hard. THey
deserved the win last night.

Notes on the game. After Kiley got beat, he sat the rest of the game as Powers rotated 5 defensemen. Chris Maye playing for Tim Regan (more on Regan later)
got 3 shifts, but did not see the ice after the 31 second spurt.
The line of the evening was the O'Connor, Matthews, Maye/Clarke line. Clarke
got double shift duty after Maye sat.

2) More on Tim Regan. At first it was stated that Regan was benched because
he violated a team rule, now my sources tell me that Regan has a knee injury
and may be out for sometime. More on this situation later.

3) TOnight's game against Army.

Bartell may not play leaving Rolanti in his first game as an Engineer.
Tamburro will be in goal, for his first game.

You have to wonder how the Engineers will react to the loss last night and see
if the mental attitude is changed. Army is disciplined and can score.

RPI should easily win this game, but the mental aspect is the one that needs to be taken care of.

See ya at the game!!!!

P.S. I was hoping to meet Mike Machnik at last night's game, but alas......
it is rare to meet guys with fame.......... :)
