speaking of the Supreme Court, I need a ruling here.

I just finished watching Ferris St - Cornell and I need some kind of
interpretation of the rules.

Third period, score tied at 1 and Ferris takes a penalty for tripping or
hooking (not sure which but the announcers clearly state that there's a
penalty call). Before the whistle, the Ferris St player takes the Cornell
player into the boards. He gets a five minute major plus a game
misconduct.

But the result is that the 5 minute major is posted and Cornell gets a five
minute power play.

What happened to the 2 minute minor? I don't know whether it should have
been a 5 on 4 for seven minutes or a 5 on 3 for 2 minutes followed by a 3
minute 5 on 4 but for some reason, they totally ignored the original
minor. What happened there?
