TWO CORSAIRS EARN ACADEMIC HONORS FROM ECAC NORTHEAST

CAPE COD, MA– Five members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s hockey team are among 69 hockey players who have earned ECAC Northeast Conference All-Academic Honors for the 2006-07 season.

Senior forward Jim Foley (Brockton, MA/Catholic Memorial HS) and sophomore defenseman Tyler Crocker (Wakefield, MA/Wakefield HS) represented the Corsairs as members of the ECAC Northeast Conference All-Academic Team. Both were honored for the second consecutive season.

Foley served as UMass Dartmouth’s captain last season. Foley was the Corsairs’ third leading scorer with 18 goals, 14 assists and 32 points; he led the Corsairs with eight power play goals and was third with three game-winning goals. In conference games, he tied for the team lead with 11 goals, was fourth with 15 points and led UMass Dartmouth with five power play goals.

Crocker ranked 11th in scoring with three goals and 13 assists for 16 points. He ranked second among defensemen in scoring, and ranks second among returning players for next season with 74 games played during his UMass Dartmouth career.

“Besides being very good hockey players, they are all very good student-athletes,” said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. “We’re very proud of their accomplishments in the classroom, and how they represent UMass Dartmouth hockey.”
