Boston College freshman sensation Patrick Eaves has a fractured vertebra and
will be placed in a brace to immobilize his neck and will be out for a bare
minimum of six weeks, according to today's Boston Globe.

Eaves was injured in Saturday's contest with Maine on a freak play. The
globe describes the play as follows: "York, after watching a tape, said
Patrick Eaves was injured on a fluke play. With the game tied, 1-1, 5:10
into the third period, Maine's Robert Liscak lost his stick at center ice,
but continued to backcheck against BC's Chris Collins. Liscak tried to take
away Collins's stick in the left corner, but the BC forward held firm. With
both players grabbing at ends of the stick, it formed a clothesline and
Eaves, skating backward, slammed into it."

York said while the injury is serious and worse than initially thought, it
was a "clean break" which apparently is a good thing (I am not a doctor).

Best wishes for a speedy recovery for Patrick!!
