RPI remains perfect against the MAAC teams skating to a 5-3 victory over
the Mercyhurst Lakers (who IMHO have no right to using "Lakers"--that
remains the property of LSSU). Frankly the Engineers played a very
mediocre game, with goaltender Nathan Marsters allowing three goals, two
of the soft variety--perhaps from the rust from last weekend's
"vacation". Ben Barr makes it a three point night with two goals and an
assist. Among other highlights was three misconducts called by ref
Murphy, 2 for Mercyhurst and 1 for RPI. This may well be one of the
worst Engineer teams of the last 15 years, with the freshman class
contributing only a couple of real additions to a team decimated by
graduation and the AHL. For RPI the heat gets turned up as the
Engineers travel to Brown and Harvard for a pair of extremely tough road
games, and return home on December 7 to face a confident Union team, and
three nights later a Boston University team that already has defeated
RPI by the score of 5-0. Oh well, at least their strength of schedule
is up this year.
