HEADLINE: Minnesota Scene: Woog among U.S. Hockey hall inductees

Doug Woog, an All-America center for the Gophers and later the team's
coach, was among four inductees named to the United States Hockey Hall
of
Fame on Thursday.

Also named were Mark Fusco and Scott Fusco, brothers from Burlington,
Mass.,
and the late Joe Riley, a native of Medford, Mass.

Woog, now a television analyst for Gophers games, played high school
hockey at South St. Paul before becoming a first-team All-America at the

university in 1965. He had 48 goals and 53 assists in 80 career games
from
1964 to 1966.

Woog coached the Gophers from 1985-99, compiling a 389-187-40 record and

12 appearances in the NCAA tournament.

The U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame will formally induct all four on Dec. 4 at
the Touchstone Energy Place Grand Ballroom in St. Paul.

Scotty Bowman also will be honored as the recipient of the Wayne Gretzky

International Award, given annually to an international citizen who has
been deemed to have made a major contribution to the growth and
advancement of American hockey.

Congrats to former Coach Woog and the others.
