Derek Chauvette scored a goal with 0:02 seconds left in regulation to
give Brown a 6-6 tie with Alaska-Anchorage in Providence tonight.

Down 6-4 with less than two minutes, there was a big pushing and
shoving match, which somehow resulted in one Brown player getting a
minor and two Alaska players getting double minors, one also getting a
10 minute misconduct. Brown pulled the goalie Finch and scored twice
to get the tie, the most thrilling ending I've ever seen. With seven
seconds left, there was a big pileup in front, at least six players,
but no whistle, and Chauvette knocked in the equalizer after a few
seconds.

Remember the unwritten rule - the refs won't call penalties in
overtime? Forget it! This ref, not P.B. mind you, first called a
high-sticking major on Brown with two minutes left, then an
interference on Brown with a minute left, letting Alaska finish the
game with a two-man advantage for the last minute.

Brown coach Bob Gaudet is a rather loud man, and we all had a pretty
big laugh as "ARE YOU SHITTING ME?????" bellowed through Meehan
Auditorium. The Brown penalty box got pretty crowded too, as another
man was sent off with the bench minor.

But Brown survived the frantic ending to run its record to 0-5-2, with
an 0-4-1 mark at home.
Hey, it's something to shout about around here!

Other games mentioned:
Clarkson beat UNH, and Boston College 2 Harvard 1.
