ANNUAL BLACK AND WHITE GAME
Peter Fregoe Registers Five Points to Lead White Team to Victory

        PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Senior center Peter Fregoe (Massena, N.Y.) scored
three goals and added two assists to lead the White Team to a 5-4 victory
over the Black Team in Providence College's annual preseason intrasquad
scrimmage at Schneider Arena on Saturday, September 29, 2001.
        Junior left wing Devin Rask (Parkside, Saskatchewan) scored the first goal
of the game at 4:58 of the first period on a wrap around to give the White
Team a 1-0 lead.  Freshman defenseman Jeff Mason (Easthampton, Mass.)
finished off a 3-1 to tie the game for the Black Team at 17:58 of the first
period.
        Fregoe got the offense going in the second period as he scored the first
of his three goals at the 2:55 mark.  Senior Marc Suderman (Regina,
Saskatchewan) fired in a wrist shot from 10 feet in front of the net to tie
the game for the Black Team at 8:14 of the second period.  Junior Jon
DiSalvatore (S. Windsor, Conn.) scored at 8:14 of the second period for the
Black Team as it took its first lead of the game.  However, Fregoe scored
consecutive goals at 16:08 and 16:49 as the White Team took control of the
game.  Freshman defenseman Eric Lundberg (Ludlow, Mass.) scored the third
consecutive goal for the White Team as the squad took a 5-3 lead.
DiSalvatore scored his second goal of the period to cut the lead to 5-4,
but the White Team held on for the win.
        Freshmen goaltenders David Cacciola (Burlington, Mass.) and Peter Capizzo
(Walpole, Mass.) combined to make 23 stops in the win for the White Team.
Junior Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) and freshman Tom Wurz
(Avon, Conn.) made 13 stops in the loss.
        The Friars will open their 2001-02 season with an exhibition game against
the Western Ontario University on Saturday, October 6 at Schneider Arena.
The game will start at 7:00 p.m. and admission is free.
        The team will begin its regular-season schedule against CCHA foe
University of Michigan at the Maverick Stampede in Omaha, Nebraska on
October 12.  The following night, PC will Nebraska-Omaha or
Minnesota-Duluth in the second game of the Tournament.
        The Friars will play their first home game of the season on Friday,
October 19 against Sacred Heart at Schneider Arena at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets
for all PC home games can be purchased Monday through Friday from 8:30
a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the PC Ticket Office in Alumni Hall or by calling (401)
865-GOPC.
