WILKINSON, MAROSTE NAMED ASSISTANT HOCKEY COACHES AT MTU
       Sertich Excited About The Future

Houghton, Mich. -- Peter Wilkinson and Mark Maroste have been
named assistant hockey coaches at Michigan Tech. The announcement
came today from Huskies' head hockey coach Mike Sertich.
"I'm really excited about having Peter and Mark to work
with," said Sertich, who recently completed his first season at MTU's
ice boss. "They both have a lot of passion and knowledge, and
together, we're going to get this program back to a championship
level."
Wilkinson has been an assistant at Michigan Tech the previous
four seasons. Prior to arriving at Michigan Tech, he served for one
season as an assistant coach at Portage Central (Mich.) High School
where he helped guide the team to its first league championship. A
native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Wilkinson played college hockey for
the Western Michigan Broncos from 1991-94 and 1995-96. He helped the
Broncos to back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Championships and
four straight Central Collegiate Hockey Association playoff berths.
The 29-year-old Wilkinson, who owns a master's degree in business
administration from Western Michigan, is engaged to Tonya Keteri with
a July 28 wedding planned.
Maroste, who was a standout forward for the Huskies from
1981-85, joins the program after spending the past four years as the
Manager of Recreation at Michigan Tech. Among other things, his job
entailed running the nationally-renowned Michigan Tech Hockey
Development Center. Prior to that, Maroste spent 10 years as a
professional hockey player in Germany and Switzerland. He played for
various clubs, including the Berlin Devils, Berlin Ice Bears,
Hannover Horses, Ajoi, Bulach Bears, and Bergen/Djerv. The
38-year-old Maroste has also played on several other elite teams
during his career. He was a member of the U.S. Junior National Team
in 1981 and 1982; a member of the U.S. National Team that played in
the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland, in 1988; and a member of the
1999 National Senior A champion Portage Lake Pioneers team. Maroste,
and his wife, the former Julie Roy, live in Houghton, Michigan. The
couple has two children, Sam (8) and Mary (5). A native of Virginia,
Minnesota, Maroste earned his bachelor's degree in business
administration from Michigan Tech in 1986.
